How about Curly Cress?

Curly Cress is also known by several other names: curled cress, garden cress, pepper cress, pepper grass, and red seeds.

Curly Cress is one of our favourite microgreens! Curly Cress is a cousin of watercress, and part of the brassica family, which puts it in the same general group with broccoli, kale and mustard. But don’t make the mistake of thinking this mighty microgreen is bland! On the contrary, when we introduce it to our customers we describe the taste as a “granny smith apple with pepper”. The plant gets more mild as it matures, but as a microgreen, it definitely packs a flavourful punch. Add it to a sandwich or a wrap. Use it on tacos, or in a salad. One of the best ways is with fresh pita and labneh (Lebanese yogurt)!

From a nutritional perspective, cress is 6% carbohydrates, 1% fibre, and 3% protein. For every 100g. of cress, you have 516% of your daily value of vitamin K, 83% DV of vitamin C, 43% DV of vitamin A, and 26% DV of manganese. Calcium, 8% of DV, Iron, 10% DV. It also includes potassium, magnesium, beta-Carotene, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, vitamin B6, and Folate.

The only thing we don’t recommend is cooking with it. As a microgreen, this variety is smaller than most and doesn’t stand up to heat very well. And why would you want to lose all that nutrition?
